It promises a truly enriching experience that reveals the authentic, peaceful soul of Vietnam's less-traveled northern regions.

Your remarkable 4-day bicycle touring adventure commences with a comfortable transfer from Hanoi, leaving the urban bustle behind as we swiftly transport you to the tranquil gateway of your cycling journey. From the moment you mount your bicycle, you’ll feel an immediate shift in atmosphere, trading city noise for the crisp air and the gentle sounds of the countryside. Our carefully selected routes emphasize quiet backroads, scenic village paths, and exhilarating trails, allowing for an uninterrupted and immersive cycling experience through ever-changing landscapes. The terrain is generally easy to moderate, making this tour accessible for a wide range of cyclists, from casual riders to seasoned enthusiasts looking for a relaxed yet culturally rich adventure.

The journey first leads you to the majestic Thac Ba Lake, one of Vietnam's largest artificial lakes, renowned for its incredible natural beauty and thousands of islands and islets. Imagine cycling along its serene shores, passing through charming villages, and witnessing the daily life of local communities who thrive along its banks. A key highlight here is an immersive boat trip on Thac Ba Lake, allowing you to navigate its labyrinthine waterways, discover hidden islands, and visit local fishing villages built on stilts. You’ll gain a unique perspective of this tranquil waterworld, observing traditional fishing methods and experiencing the untouched beauty of the reservoir. The feeling of gliding across the calm waters, surrounded by verdant hills and scattered islands, is truly mesmerizing.

From the tranquil beauty of Thac Ba Lake, your expedition then continues towards the renowned Ba Be National Park, home to Vietnam's largest natural freshwater lake, Ba Be Lake. The cycling to and around Ba Be is particularly scenic, with paths winding through dense jungle, past traditional Tay stilt houses, and alongside the serene lake shores. This segment offers a perfect blend of gentle cycling and serene natural exploration, providing a peaceful contrast to any previous urban environments. Upon arrival, you'll have ample time to unwind and further explore the park. Another unforgettable boat trip on Ba Be Lake will allow you to delve deeper into its wonders, visiting hidden caves, tranquil coves, and the surrounding ethnic minority villages that dot its perimeter. You'll witness the harmonious coexistence between nature and the local communities who have lived by the lake for generations, often relying on traditional fishing and farming methods.

Throughout these 4 days, you'll be constantly immersed in the vibrant cultures of Northern Vietnam. Our routes are carefully chosen to lead you through remote villages primarily inhabited by the gracious Tay ethnic group, known for their distinctive stilt houses and rich cultural traditions. You'll have countless opportunities for meaningful interactions with locals, perhaps sharing a cup of tea, observing their farming practices, or visiting bustling local markets where traditional goods are traded. The overnight stays will primarily be in authentic homestays in Tay villages, offering an unparalleled opportunity to live among the villagers, savor delicious home-cooked Vietnamese meals, and truly experience their renowned hospitality. There are about 250km from Thac Ba lake to Ba Be national park. We will break the journey into 2 days with car transfers to avoid busy traffic roads. The first ride is at the foot of Tam Dao Range, and we will spend the night in a little town of Vinh Loc, at a local guesthouse. The second portion is more challenging with several climbs. In general the road is sealed all the way until we reach the homestay that is located within Ba Be national park.
