After breakfast, you'll tinker with the bike and ride leizurely to explore the Imperial Citadel, the Royal Tomb Architecture, and Hue City. One of Vietnam's principal hubs for culture, religion, and education is Hue. Hue is currently the only historically significant city in Vietnam still standing. The 11km-long Perfume River, which goes by the romantic moniker of "Perfume," is home to many of Hue's attractions. More than a hundred architectural pieces, reflecting the lives of emperors and mandarins under Nguyen's rule, are included in this priceless masterpiece. Hue's architecture combines elements of traditional, modern, folk, and royal architecture. UNESCO designated it as a component of the global cultural heritage on December 11th, 1993. Built along the layout of Peking's Forbidden City, the Imperial Citadel sits on the north bank of the river and is encircled by a moat and 10-meter-thick walls. Perhaps the most well-known religious site in Hue is located a few kilometers up the river. There remain marvels within the citadel. One such location is the Nguyen emperors' residence, which is a sizable walled complex on the river's north side. Only concubines, emperors, and those who were close enough to them were allowed entry into the forbidden city inside the citadel; trespassing was punishable by death. We also take a ride to see the ancient kings' graves. The exquisite graves of the Nguyen Kings are located on the southern bank of the Perfume River, nestled between the hills. These include the four well-known tombs, each of whose name and layout reflects the opinions, characteristics, and preferences of the respective Emperor. These are the spectacular Khai Dinh tomb, the massive Minh Mang tomb, the poetic Tu Duc tomb, and the grand Gia Long tomb. Hue's ancient citadel remnants are too important to overlook for any architect interested in learning about Vietnam's ancient architecture.
