This unique expedition offers a seamless blend of exhilarating rides through dramatic mountain landscapes and a serene, unforgettable cruise through one of the world's most iconic natural wonders. From the bustling energy of Hanoi, you'll embark on a journey that transitions from winding mountain roads and vibrant ethnic cultures to the tranquil, emerald waters of Halong Bay and Lan Ha Bay.

Our adventure kicks off as we depart the capital, quickly heading north into the verdant mountains and lush valleys that define Northeast Vietnam. The GTT601 tour is expertly balanced to offer a dynamic mix of thrilling rides and scenic stretches, navigating diverse terrains that include well-maintained asphalt roads and some adventurous paths. Each day promises new vistas and opportunities for discovery, ensuring a continuously engaging ride. Our experienced local guides, deeply knowledgeable about the terrain and local cultures, will lead the way, prioritizing your safety while sharing fascinating insights into the unique traditions and daily lives of the people you'll encounter in the highlands.

A significant highlight of the Northeast portion of this tour is the exploration of areas like Ba Be Lake. Vietnam's largest natural freshwater lake, nestled within a national park, is surrounded by majestic limestone mountains and ancient forests, offering an unparalleled sense of tranquility. You might enjoy a serene boat trip across its glassy surface, allowing you to soak in the peaceful atmosphere, explore mysterious caves, and perhaps even spot some of the diverse wildlife that calls this area home. The natural beauty here provides a perfect backdrop for relaxation and incredible photographic opportunities. The route is carefully planned to showcase the region's best, potentially including parts of Cao Bang province, known for its dramatic karst formations and lush rice paddies.

The defining element of the GTT601 tour is its incredible transition to the coastline. After experiencing the raw beauty of the mountains, you'll make your way towards the coast for a breathtaking experience in Halong Bay and its less-crowded neighbor, Lan Ha Bay. This UNESCO World Heritage site is famous for its thousands of towering limestone karsts emerging from the emerald waters. You'll embark on a comfortable cruise, navigating through this mystical landscape, past floating fishing villages, and into hidden lagoons. Activities often include kayaking, swimming, and exploring stunning caves, offering a completely different perspective and pace to your adventure.

Beyond the iconic natural landmarks, this tour offers valuable cultural insights. While traversing the Northeast, we will journey through villages home to various ethnic minority groups, including the Tay, Nung, Dao, and H'mong people. You'll have opportunities to interact with locals, learn about their unique customs, and observe traditional crafts. Overnights in the mountainous regions will be in comfortable local hotels or possibly a traditional guesthouse/homestay, offering a blend of relaxation and authentic connection. Your Halong Bay segment will involve overnighting on a modern, comfortable cruise boat, providing a unique and memorable experience.

The riding itself is a core component of this dynamic adventure. Each day's route is thoughtfully planned to maximize your enjoyment, balancing thrilling stretches with opportunities to pause and appreciate the stunning scenery. You'll conquer winding mountain roads, navigate through picturesque rice paddies, and experience the pure joy of exploring Vietnam's stunning northern landscapes on two wheels before heading to the coast.

Day 1: Hanoi – Na Khan. ~180 km, ~8 h.

Today is the first day of this North East Ride in 6 days motorbike tour. Before starting to ride, we will have a short briefing to let you know about the rules. In addition, the guide will show you how to understand him by his body language. We start around 9.30am after the rush hour.

In fact, today’s ride is quite a long ride but easy (so early departure is better) from Hanoi to Na Khan 180 km. In general, the road is sealed all the way until Bac Kan. However, the last part from Bac Kan to Na Khan is wild and a little bumpy. Na Khan is a Tay village, Mr. Lo, the chief of the village will welcome us to his house.

Day 2: Na Khan – Ba Be. ~50 km, ~2 h.

A short drive from Na Khan to Ba Be on a bumpy road. Then have lunch at our captain’s house (Mr. Dang, we call him Zi Dang). Easy boating on the lake and river. Go to the market (if it is the day you arrive). Stop at a waterfall, beautiful swim, etc. Down the waterfall, we could visit the village and a small school (only a few pupils during the summer). We propose to stay in the stilt house of our captain.

Day 3: Ba Be – Quang Hoa. ~170 km, ~8 h.

In fact, today is a beautiful ride up to Cao Bang province. There are a few passes from where you can dominate the area. The road is easy but there are many curves. While riding we can stop a lot. Altogether, with stops for drinks and food, it should be an 8-hour journey. Then ride 1 more hour to reach the beautiful village of Quang Hoa, in the middle of a mountain cirque. This is the territory of Nung An people. Spend the night at our friend’s house.

Day 4: Quang Hoa (options). ~100 km, ~2 h (~30 km, ~1 h).

ption 1

Having obtained permission from the border police we make our way through spectacular scenery to Vietnam’s most impressive waterfalls. Weather permitting we can swim right up to where the 50 m high falls hit the river.

Option 2

In fact, Na Tau is a completely unknown area and we propose to discover it by raft and motorbike. Rivers and waterfalls everywhere are extremely beautiful and wild. It is only 15 km from Quang Hoa. On the return, we invite you for the aperitif at the village of Phuc Sen, artisan village Nung An, the owner is the brother of our host.

Day 2: Quang Hoa – Lang Son. ~150 km, ~5 h.

Ride from Quang Hoa until Lang Son on the scenic Highway 4. We will have time to discover this city, which has become a big trading post between China and Vietnam. In fact, you can buy many cheap Chinese electronic products or toys at Dong King or Tam Thanh market.

Overnight in a hotel.

Day 6: Lang Son – Hanoi. ~150 km, ~3 h. End of North East Ride In 6 Days Motorbike Tour.

If the weather is nice, we can continue driving toward South to Mau Son. Mau Son is 30 km away from Lang Son, 1.541m above sea level, Promenade around Mau Son in the morning, visit our Dao friends. Then, ride down to Lang Son to have lunch.

Ride back to Hanoi on Highway 1B or the small roads along this Highway. To offer more flexibility, we leave this up to you and our guide to decide which road to take.
