This journey is more than just a trip; it's a deep dive into the heart of Vietnam's most historically significant and culturally vibrant region. Students will explore a captivating blend of imperial grandeur, ancient traditions, and breathtaking coastal landscapes, all while fostering a deeper understanding of this incredible country.

Your tour begins in Hue, the former imperial capital and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here, you'll step back in time to the era of the Nguyen Dynasty. A highlight is a visit to the Imperial Citadel, a sprawling complex of palaces, temples, and gates that once housed Vietnam's emperors. You'll also discover the grandeur of the Royal Tombs, beautifully crafted architectural marvels set amidst serene landscapes. The experience is both an important history lesson and a visual spectacle.

The journey continues to Da Nang, a modern and dynamic city that serves as a gateway to the region. From here, you'll travel to the ancient town of Hoi An, another UNESCO World Heritage site and the heart of the tour. Hoi An is a living museum, where narrow streets lined with centuries-old buildings and vibrant lanterns create a magical atmosphere. This part of the trip is focused on hands-on cultural immersion. Students will participate in a traditional Vietnamese cooking class, learning to prepare local delicacies. Another key activity is a lantern-making workshop, where you’ll learn the art of crafting these beautiful symbols of Hoi An.

A visit to the My Son Sanctuary, a collection of ruined Hindu temples constructed by the Champa Kingdom, offers a fascinating look into a different historical chapter. This site provides a powerful context for discussions on regional history and religious influence. Throughout the journey, students will engage with local communities, sample delicious Central Vietnamese cuisine, and gain a profound appreciation for the country’s rich heritage. This Central Vietnam student tour is the perfect blend of historical exploration, cultural activities, and personal growth, creating an enriching and memorable experience for every participant

Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City (Hanoi) arrival – Hue (D)
Arrival at Tan Son Nhat airport in Ho Chi Minh City (or Noi Bai airport in Hanoi), we will be at the Terminal in good time to connect a domestic flight to Hue. On arrival, students and teachers will be welcomed by our local guide and transferred to the hotel to check-in. After that, we will take a cyclo ride to visit the Imperial Citadel where the Nguyen Dynasty ruled between 1802 and 1945, after exploring the ruins of this wonderful monument. We will then depart to the Hue Royal Fine Art Museum, which is housed within the former Dien Long An Royal Palace. We will spend the night in Hue.
Day 2: Hue’s Riverboat and Royal Tombs (B, L, D)
After breakfast at the hotel, we will board the Dragon Boat on the romantic Perfume River heading out for the countryside. Being the ancient capital, Hue is surrounded with ancient tombs of emperors past, and a visit to the most beautiful tombs will be on the itinerary for today. The charming Lady Pagoda (Thien Mu Pagoda) will be the first stop of the day. We will enjoy a great view of the Perfume River and the surrounding area. Thien Mu Pagoda is considered the symbol of Hue, and of Buddhism in Vietnam. From here, we rejoin our car and go visit Emperor Khai Dinh’s Tomb and Emperor Tu Duc’s Tomb. In the afternoon, we visit one of the city’s ‘garden houses’ and then return to our hotel to freshen-up. In the evening, we will have dinner in the pleasant surroundings and a comfortable atmosphere of another of the garden houses. We spend the night in Hue.
Day 3: Hue – Danang – Hoi An Walking Tour (B, L, D)
After breakfast at the hotel, we travel by vehicle to Hoi An along scenic highway 1A. Along the way, we will stop to contemplate the stunning views north, to Lang Co Beach and South to Danang city. On arrival in Danang, we will have a brief visit to Cham Museum – the houses of the most complete collection of Cham Artifacts anywhere in the world; China Beach – where the American named and used to have their rest and relaxation; and the Marble Mountain – the five elements of the Universe (water, wood, air, fire and earth). We will arrive in Hoi An in the afternoon. After check-in, we will start our walking tour around the ancient town to visit the Japanese Covered Bridge, the Pottery Museum, Tan Ky old house, the Cantonese congregation, the silk street of Hoi An, the temples and pagodas of Chinese appearance. Then we are back to our hotel for dinner and good sleep.
Day 4: Hoi An Farming, Fishing & Cooking Class in the afternoon (B, L, D)
This morning, we cycle to a local farming village to join the daily work life of local farmers – hoeing and a soil, watering veggie at an organic herb garden, riding water buffalo in the field and enjoy the freshest air of the countryside beauty. After that, board the Hoi An Eco-tour boat and cruise to the mouth of the river where it meets the Cua Dai Sea. We also learn and try our hand at local traditional fishing techniques using round and cast nets, learn to paddle the strange and unique Vietnamese bamboo basket boats. Explore the now tranquil coconut-palm flanked waterways of a past war and hear of the extreme conditions endured by soldiers on both sides. Have a relaxed fun with catching beautiful purple crabs on bamboo basket boat. After visiting a local water coconut palm village, we take a walk around the village, have some tea, and snack with local talks… Back on-board our Hoi An Eco-tour boat, enjoy our lunch and cold soft drink on the boat, then back to the town center.
In the afternoon, we join the fantastic Cooking class at Red Bridge restaurant with the first activity to visit Hoi An colorful market to experience the amazing sights, sounds and aromas of this busy market; and purchase some of the ingredients to be used in the cooking lesson later. Later, we board the Red Bridge boat for a leisurely cruise (25 minutes) along the Hoi An River to the Red Bridge Cooking School; explore the cooking school’s herb and vegetable garden before learning about some of Hoi An’s and Vietnam’s well-known dishes. The cooking lesson runs for about 2 hours – each dish is first demonstrated by the Red Bridge chefs before we prepare the same dish ourselves. Included in the class is a brief introduction to Vietnamese food carving (plate decoration). After the lesson, we sit down and eat what we have cooked.
