Over six exhilarating days, you'll navigate winding mountain passes, discover hidden valleys, and immerse yourself in the authentic daily lives of remote communities, all from the saddle of your trusty motorbike. This tour is engineered for the adventurous spirit, seeking both the thrill of the ride and a profound connection with an unspoiled world.

Your journey begins from the dynamic capital of Hanoi, quickly transitioning into the serene, breathtaking countryside that defines the northern highlands. The route, a comprehensive "Northern Loop," is expertly crafted to showcase the region's diverse topography, from fertile rice paddies and tranquil rivers to challenging mountain roads that ascend to dizzying heights, offering panoramic vistas that stretch as far as the eye can see. Each day presents a new set of challenges and rewards, promising an unforgettable journey through some of Southeast Asia's most dramatic scenery. You'll ride through areas adorned with cascading terraced rice fields, ancient tea plantations, and dense forests, experiencing the raw, untamed beauty of the Vietnamese highlands.

Beyond the exhilarating rides, this tour is a deep dive into the rich tapestry of ethnic minority cultures that call these mountains home. You'll have unparalleled opportunities to interact with various groups, including the Tay, H'mong, Dzao, and Nung people, gaining insights into their unique traditions, colorful attire, and sustainable ways of life. Overnight stays are primarily in authentic local homestays, providing a rare chance to share meals with families, learn a few phrases of their language, and understand the nuances of their daily routines. These cultural exchanges are often the most memorable aspects of the journey, fostering a true sense of connection.

Key regions you'll explore on this extensive loop include the dramatic Ha Giang Loop, renowned for its iconic passes like Ma Pi Leng and the spectacular Nho Que River; the serene beauty of Ba Be National Park, home to Vietnam's largest natural lake and incredible biodiversity; and the historical and cultural richness of lesser-known provincial towns. You'll pass through areas of significant historical importance, witness traditional craft villages, and perhaps even stumble upon vibrant local markets where goods are traded and stories are shared.

This 6-day "Long Northern Loop" is perfect for experienced motorcyclists and adventurous travelers opting for an "easy rider" experience, ensuring safety and comfort while delivering an unparalleled exploration. Night 1: Hanoi – Lao Cai – Night train. ~10 h.

Departure from Hanoi at 9.30 pm. However, we need to be at the train station two hours before to load the bikes on the train. There is limited space for bikes and there could be no space in case you arrive late. Arrival in Lao Cai at 6.10 am.

Day 1: Lao Cai – Ha Giang: ~194 km, ~7 h.

Pick up the motorbike from Lao Cai station at 8.30 am. Then ride to Ha Giang via Luc Yen. In general, the roads are paved and easy.

Golden Trail Travel Motorbike Adventures - Long Northern Loop 6 Days Motorbike Tour via Dong Van, Ha Giang.

Day 2: Ha Giang – Bao Lac: ~250 km, ~7h.

In fact, this is a very long but beautiful ride that takes you through the highest karst formation area in Vietnam. This day was designed for very experienced riders who want a long riding day. It’s, in reality, the best riding day on this long Northern loop 6 days motorbike tour.

Day 3: Bao Lac – Cao Bang – Quang Hoa: ~198 km, ~8 h.

Today you have another beautiful ride up to Cao Bang province. There are a few passes from where you can dominate the area. The road is easy but there are many curves. While riding we can stop a lot. Altogether, with stops for drinks and food, it should be an 8-hour journey. Then ride 1 more hour to reach the beautiful village of Quang Hoa, in the middle of a mountain circuit. This is the territory of Nung An people. Spend the night at our friend’s house.

Day 4: Quang Hoa.

In fact, Na Tau is a completely unknown area and we propose to discover it by raft and motorbike. Rivers and waterfalls everywhere are extremely beautiful and wild. It is only 15 km from Quang Hoa. On the return, we invite you for the aperitif at the village of Phuc Sen, artisan village Nung An, the owner is the brother of our host.

Day 5: Quang Hoa – Lang Son. ~180 km, ~7 h.

Honestly, today is probably the best riding day on this long Northern loop 6 days motorbike tour.
We slowly leave the region of the karsts to find the forest. Then descending by famous colonial road N. 4 until the frontier city of Lang Son. In addition to the riding, you can purchase cheap Chinese electronic products at Dong Kinh or Tam Thanh market.
Night in Lang Son.
Golden Trail Travel Motorbike Adventures - Long Northern Loop 6 Days Motorbike Tour via Highway 4 to Lang Son.

Day 6: Lang Son – Hanoi: ~150 km, ~5 h. End of Long Northern Loop 6 Days Motorbike Tour.

If the weather is nice, we can continue driving toward South to Mau Son. Mau Son is 30 km away from Lang Son, 1.541m above sea level. Promenade around Mau Son in the morning, visit our Dao friends. Then, ride down to Lang Son to have lunch.
In addition, we could also go to visit the market of Lang Son, full of smuggled goods. This is good if you didn’t do that yesterday.
Arrival at Hanoi around 4 pm, before rush hours
