Overview
VIETNAM MOTORBIKE TOURS ITINERARIES
On this page, you will find Vietnam motorbike tours itineraries by Golden Trail Travel that customers completed. The name is the tour code and if you want to do the same itinerary please include this in your request. Currently, some are old or outdated but most are still very good. The names of places may change and actual distance (in km) can be shorter or longer due to new roads. The guide will be the boss of a tour and he will discuss with you which road to take, based on road and weather conditions at the time.
Most of these motorbike tours were designed for both experienced and non-experienced riders. The best motorbikes for these trips are dirt bikes or off-road motorcycles from 125cc to 250cc. We suggest having people with similar riding skills in each group so nobody holds the other riders back.
BIG NORTH LOOP OF VIETNAM MOTORBIKE TOURS ITINERARIES
If time allows (around two weeks), Golden Trail Travel invites motorbike riders to take this trip and ride Northern Vietnam in a big loop. You ride close to the border between Vietnam and Laos and Vietnam and China. Slowly, you cruise from the low land of Red River delta, head up the mountain range and finally ride on the high mountain roads for many days before coming back to Hanoi.
The experience you get is special and unique. In addition, the landscape is so beautiful and wild. Moreover, hill tribal people are honest, friendly, and easygoing. All in all, you get a real insight into Vietnam!

Night 1: Hanoi – Lao Cai – Night train. ~10 h.
Departure from Hanoi at 9.30 pm. However, we need to be at the train station two hours before to load the bikes on the train. There is limited space for bikes and there could be no space in case you arrive late. Arrival in Lao Cai at 6.10 am.
Day 1: Lao Cai – Ha Giang: ~194 km, ~7 h.
Pick up the motorbike from Lao Cai station at 8.30 am. Then ride to Ha Giang via Luc Yen. In general, the roads are paved and easy.
Golden Trail Travel Motorbike Adventures - Long Northern Loop 6 Days Motorbike Tour via Dong Van, Ha Giang.
Day 2: Ha Giang – Bao Lac: ~250 km, ~7h.
In fact, this is a very long but beautiful ride that takes you through the highest karst formation area in Vietnam. This day was designed for very experienced riders who want a long riding day. It’s, in reality, the best riding day on this long Northern loop 6 days motorbike tour.
Day 3: Bao Lac – Cao Bang – Quang Hoa: ~198 km, ~8 h.
Today you have another beautiful ride up to Cao Bang province. There are a few passes from where you can dominate the area. The road is easy but there are many curves. While riding we can stop a lot. Altogether, with stops for drinks and food, it should be an 8-hour journey. Then ride 1 more hour to reach the beautiful village of Quang Hoa, in the middle of a mountain circuit. This is the territory of Nung An people. Spend the night at our friend’s house.
Day 4: Quang Hoa.
In fact, Na Tau is a completely unknown area and we propose to discover it by raft and motorbike. Rivers and waterfalls everywhere are extremely beautiful and wild. It is only 15 km from Quang Hoa. On the return, we invite you for the aperitif at the village of Phuc Sen, artisan village Nung An, the owner is the brother of our host.
Day 5: Quang Hoa – Lang Son. ~180 km, ~7 h.
Honestly, today is probably the best riding day on this long Northern loop 6 days motorbike tour.
We slowly leave the region of the karsts to find the forest. Then descending by famous colonial road N. 4 until the frontier city of Lang Son. In addition to the riding, you can purchase cheap Chinese electronic products at Dong Kinh or Tam Thanh market.
Night in Lang Son.
Golden Trail Travel Motorbike Adventures - Long Northern Loop 6 Days Motorbike Tour via Highway 4 to Lang Son.
Day 6: Lang Son – Hanoi: ~150 km, ~5 h. End of Long Northern Loop 6 Days Motorbike Tour.
If the weather is nice, we can continue driving toward South to Mau Son. Mau Son is 30 km away from Lang Son, 1.541m above sea level. Promenade around Mau Son in the morning, visit our Dao friends. Then, ride down to Lang Son to have lunch.
In addition, we could also go to visit the market of Lang Son, full of smuggled goods. This is good if you didn’t do that yesterday.
Arrival at Hanoi around 4 pm, before rush hours
