Pick up from the airport and this afternoon we’ll start the day off with the S21 Genocide Museum, followed by a visit to the infamous Killing Fields of the Khmer Rouge. We’ll then proceed to the colorful Russian market. Next, we’ll visit the private quarters of the Royal Palace, which is now home to the royal family. Located on the northern territory of the grounds is the Silver Pagoda, the most sacred temple in the country. We’ll rest up for a bit before having a briefing about the next few day’s plans and activities, after which we’ll proceed to our welcome dinner at a riverside restaurant.
Leaving the chaos of Phnom Penh behind us, we’ll get ready for some serious off-road riding. We have nearly 300 kilometers to cover today and some parts will be through the sand. We’re not going to break it to you easily: a hard first day, but a rewarding one.
We turn south and head into the Cardamom Mountains. Get ready for some steep uphill climbs in the rocky hills. Our trajectory will lead us to a small mountain town by the name of Pramouy, where we will spend the night.
We’ll have an easy start to the morning as we peddle along the crimson-colored dirt roads that will take us up and down through the mountains. Prepare yourself for some breathtaking views. We’ll then make our way towards some single-track trails through thick jungly terrain. We’ll finish the day by riding on smooth paved roads, making a few stops along our way to enjoy some waterfalls.
Take some time to yourselves to recuperate and enjoy the wild and inspiring beauty of Koh Kong Island. You will have the opportunity to visit a fishing village and check out stilted houses, and kayak through the mangrove forest.
Today it’s up to you to decide: do you want to take the easy road or the hard road? The more challenging path will lead us through steep hills, bridges, river crossings, and some fun single-track trails. The easier path will take us along beautiful roads that wind through the mountains and lead to the impressive Tatai waterfall.
Today’s ride is a mix of jungle trails, stretches of sand, rocky paths, and several river crossings. An adventurous day will lead us to the great pine forests of Kirirom
Making a loop around the top of the Elephant Mountains, we’ll ride towards the old colonial town of Kampot. From there, we’ll have the opportunity to attempt some steep climbs and ride through hilly terrain. If we have enough time, we’ll also have the option of riding to the coastal town of Kep, which is famous for its delicious and fresh crab.
On our last day, we have a 1000-meter ride up to the top of Bokor Mountain. The smooth and winding roads are incredibly fun, with several switchbacks and breathtaking views across the Gulf of Thailand. We’ll visit an old French hill station and climb the stairs to the top of the mountain to visit a deserted casino that is generally shrouded in mist. It gets quite cold up there at the summit, so we can also check out the new casino for a hot coffee and croissant. Back at the base of the mountain, we’ll ride towards Sihanoukville where we will return to the jungle for some single-track riding. We’ll finish the day off by riding over a hill onto the sands of Otres Beach where we can enjoy some cold beers and go for a sunset swim. You will stay in a beautiful beach hotel on your account.
