Trekking in Putao Mountain. Putao which lies in a flat valley is the jumping-off point for trekkers who want to explore the region’s deep forests, wildlife sanctuaries, and snow-capped mountains. Trek through Mt. Shangaung at 1362 meters. The first 10 km will be straight up along the trail winding up to the top of Mt. Shangaung from then the trail goes all the way down to Wasandum. This will be a testing journey for you as the trail have to ascend from 915 meters up to 1362 meters. Wasandum is a small Rawan village situated by Namro creek. The last village trek will start with a 9.6 kilometers walk to Chaungzone camp, taking around 3 hours. The journey first crosses over Phangran creek by suspension bridge and then traverses an evergreen forest with slightly undulating tracks. All of you will be in the dense forest to enjoy nature. After breakfast, the adventure trail starts as a trek to Wasan6dum village with a distance of 20 km which takes us about 7 hours trek through Mt. Shangaung at 1362 meters. The first 10 km will be straight up along the trail winding up to the top of Mt. Shangaung from then the trail goes all the way down to Wasandum. This will be a testing journey for you as the trail have to ascend from 915 meters up to 1362 meters. Wasandum is a small Rawan village situated by Namro creek. Upon arrival, check-in at the village house, and those who wish to wash up may go to Namro creek to do so with crystal clear water. Dinner and overnight will be at the village house.
After breakfast, you will head to the village for today's destination at Ziyadum, through relatively flat land with just a few ups and downs. At first, we cross Namro Creek to Awadum with a distance of 7.4 km which takes us about 3 hours. Awad is mainly inhabited by Lisu and separated into two by a large paddy field. Here we cross a suspension bridge that spans Namlang creek to Kalang village with a distance of 4.8 km which should take us about 1.5 hours. We continue trek to Ziyadum village with a distance of 6.4 km which takes us about 2 hours through deep evergreen forests. Ziyadum, situated at an altitude of 3440 ft, 1048 meters is the most northwestern and last frontier village in the Putao region, mainly residents are Rawan tribes. It is recommended to visit Ziya creek for a fantastic sunset view with blazing Snow Mountains in the west which spark in to steady flowing Ziya creek. Dinner and overnight at a village house in Ziyadum village will serve you local experiences.
After breakfast, beyond the last village trek will start with a 9.6 kilometers walk to Chaungzone camp, taking around 3 hours. The journey first crosses over Phangran creek by suspension bridge and then traverses an evergreen forest with slightly undulating tracks. All of you will be in the dense forest to enjoy nature. Lunch will be on the bank of the rocky river. After taking your leisure time at Chaungzone which is a beautiful place of two small creeks to meet to become Namyan rive, we will back to the village. All of you will have a good time in the last village to enjoy nature and culture. Standing on the bank of the Ziyar river and lying in the valley of every green forest mountain, Ziyar village will give you authentic natural and cultural beauties of northern Myanmar. Dinner and overnight will be at the same place.
After breakfast, start trek to Kalang village for about 3 hours. It lines between evergreen forest and with cristal ice water river. Visiting inside the village's houses will show you an authentic way of life of the mountain tribes. Enjoy the village sightseeing and early lunch in Kalang. After lunch, you will cross over suspension bridges at Awadum and pass-through under lush evergreen forest. It is one of the photogenic places on your trip. In the late afternoon, you will arrive at Wasundum village again. Dinner and overnight will be at the traditional house at Wasundum village.
After breakfast, you will resume the journey to Shangaung village. The trek goes challenging uphill to the plateau of Mt. Shangaung, before rapidly downhill to Shangaung. This evening we will celebrate a farewell dinner with our fellow group members, including leaders, and porters, and commemorate the experience that you’ve shared for the past 9 days in this unique part of the world. Dinner and overnight will be at the same village house in Shangaung village.
In the early morning, transfer back to Putao to visit the morning market and have breakfast at a local restaurant. Then, transfer to the airport for your domestic flight to Yangon or Mandalay. If time permits, you will visit one of the local villages to observe the daily lifestyle of the local people.
