Our expert local guide, passionate about sharing Hanoi's stories, will lead you through the city's most iconic landmarks and hidden gems, providing insightful commentary and local perspectives that bring each site to life.
The tour typically starts by delving into Hanoi's profound historical and political significance. You'll visit the solemn Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Complex (exterior view of Mausoleum; entrance to One Pillar Pagoda & Ho Chi Minh's Stilt House), a revered site dedicated to Vietnam's beloved revolutionary leader. This area also encompasses the elegant One Pillar Pagoda, an iconic symbol of Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh's traditional stilt house, offering a glimpse into his simple life. Nearby, the majestic Temple of Literature & National University awaits, Vietnam's first national university, a beautiful example of traditional Vietnamese architecture and a testament to the country's ancient scholarly traditions. Here, you'll walk through tranquil courtyards and ancient gates, absorbing centuries of intellectual history.
Next, you'll immerse yourself in the spiritual heart of the city with a visit to the Tran Quoc Pagoda, Hanoi's oldest pagoda, gracefully situated on a small island in West Lake. Its stunning architecture and serene setting offer a peaceful retreat and fantastic photo opportunities. Following this, you'll experience the bustling energy of the Old Quarter, Hanoi's historic commercial hub. Navigate its labyrinthine streets, each traditionally dedicated to a specific trade, and soak in the vibrant atmosphere, historic architecture, and endless street food options. This is a sensory overload in the best possible way, showcasing the pulse of daily Hanoian life.
A delicious local lunch will be provided at an authentic Vietnamese restaurant, giving you the chance to savor classic Hanoi dishes and refuel for the afternoon's adventures.
In the afternoon, the journey continues with a visit to the fascinating Ethnology Museum (or Hoa Lo Prison Museum, depending on your preference and available time), offering a deeper understanding of Vietnam's diverse ethnic groups or its tumultuous 20th-century history. The Ethnology Museum provides comprehensive insights into the cultures, customs, and daily lives of Vietnam's 54 ethnic minorities, while Hoa Lo Prison, also known as the "Hanoi Hilton," offers a sobering look at a significant period in the country's past.
The tour culminates with a relaxing and iconic experience: a Cyclo ride (traditional rickshaw) through the charming streets of the Old Quarter, offering a unique perspective and an unhurried view of local life, or a captivating Water Puppet Show, a traditional Vietnamese art form that tells ancient folk tales and legends through puppets dancing on water.

Morning Tour of Hanoi City (L)
Our one-day city trip begins today in the hotel foyer. After driving to the Ho Chi Minh Complex, we will spend a few hours touring the Presidential Palace, the One-pillar Pagoda, the Ho Chi Minh Museum, and the mausoleum of the former president.
Proceed to view the Temple of Literature. Founded in 1070 as a Confucian temple, this is the location of Vietnam's first university. The shrine emphasizes the value that education has always had in Vietnamese society. We will have lunch at a classy neighborhood eatery in Hanoi.
Tour of Hanoi City - Afternoon
We will explore the Museum of Ethnology, one of Vietnam's most fascinating museums, in the afternoon. It is regarded as the greatest in the nation and features a sizable exhibit devoted to the 54 ethnic minority groups that make up Vietnam. After that, we'll have a car tour of the city to explore the various areas and the everyday lives of the people who live there.
Following that, we will enjoy an hour-long paddle rickshaw (cyclo) ride in the Old Quarter, also referred to as the 36 streets. Thousands of small merchants and shopkeepers call this busy network of narrow lanes home. The names of the 36 streets were originally associated with the goods that were sold there.
We will get to see the amazing Water Puppet show before returning to the hotel. Listen to the live musicians perform traditional Vietnamese instruments and vocals throughout the performance. After the concert at the hotel, the journey will come to an end.
