When mentioning Myanmar, many normally think of Yangon, the cultural and architectural center of the country. Boasting the countless number of pagodas and temples, Yangon is well worth a first place to get our journey started.
Upon arrival, get yourself relax and fresh up at the rest of the morning. After lunch, our afternoon visit will focus on an opening city tour with Kandawgyi Park and a stroll around the capital’s streets. Afterward, pamper yourself with ice cream as a reward for your efforts.
In the late afternoon, take in the view of marvelous sunset from the peaceful Yangon River while immersing in the quiet scenes of the riversides. Afterward, enjoy your free time with some cups of beer or local rum sour with your new friends, while your children can play with seagulls.
Later, head to Monsoon Restaurant where a warmly welcome dinner is waiting for us. The first great day of the tour ends! Tonight we will stay in Yangon.
As the sun begins to rise, we continue our trip with a short visit to the Shwedagon Pagoda, a 6th-century pagoda. The color of gold and the unique architectural style make the Shwedagon Pagoda, also known as the Golden Pagoda the most attractive pagoda in Yangon. This place welcomes thousands of tourists especially Buddhism followers coming to visit and contemplate its beauty. En route, we turn our attention to the “monk market” where you can find anything, from monk robes to bowls. Say goodbye to the vibrant atmosphere of the market, we will once again immerse in the solemnity of Myanmar by peeking into the Mahawizaya Temple – a 20th-century temple locating south of the Shwedagon Pagoda.
The next destination of this morning trip is the lively Bogyoke Market, an ideal place for you and your family to take a number of impressive photos of Burmese traditional attire – longyi to get the remarkable moments. (note: the market is closed on Mondays). In the afternoon, we will be transferred to Heho of the Shan State by plane, then drive to Nyaung Shwe and take in the natural beauty of Inle Lake in a local motorboat. Tonight accommodation at Inle Lake.
En route, the journey will take you to Heho where the charming beauty of the great Intel lake dotted with floating farm, tomato gardens and unique leg-rowing will amaze you and take you from this surprise to another. After soaking up the stunning view of the lake, enjoy the included visit to Nga Phe Chaung Monastery – famous for its well-trained jumping cat, then we make our way to Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda – a notable Buddhist pagoda on the Inle Lake. Before lunch, take advantage of your time discovering a weaving village of Inpawkhone and a cheroot factory.
After lunch, the trip will introduce you to the Pa-oh village of Indein and especially Inthar Heritage House where you could gain insights into the culture and customs of the nearby locals. Overnight on Inle Lake.
Let get started our trip in Bagan, the plain of pagodas (about 2000 pagodas and stupas) with a short visit to the Nyaung U Market. This is the place where a number of goods ranging from toys, handicrafts to even some strange dishes are exchanged, so you could easily find for yourself favorite stuff. Afterward, the trip will take you past 2 truly awesome sites including Shwezigon Pagoda – a 12th century golden Pagoda, and Kyan Sithar Cave Temple, the great view of the 12th century Ananda temple with three solemn stupas.
The trip would be incomplete without a stop at the Lawkanandar Sanctuary, this is the attractive sites for animal lovers. Also, if you have set your foot here, don’t forget to go to the Irrawaddy Dolphins otherwise you will regret over it some days as it is the place where you could mesmerize the panoramic view of the Irrawaddy River and its specialized species.
In the afternoon, there will be time at leisure for you to indulge in the whole view of the pagodas’ plain at the sunset; descend to the top of a temple and do whatever you want before heading back to the hotel. Overnight in Bagan.
