Day 01:   YANGON – KYAING TONG
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Kyaing Tong, the former Shan capital. On arrival, transfer to your hotel. Sightseeing in Kyaing Tong starts with Maha Myat Muni Pagoda, housing the Mandalay style Buddha image, and nearby a monastery where the monks learn the “Khun” language, which is very similar to that used in Northern Thailand. Proceed to the Shan lacquer ware-making home industry to learn the embossing method of lacquerware making. Overnight at Princess Hotel.

Your local guide will introduce you to the villagers of Aka and An tribes. Some are baptized, and some tribes are still animists. The walk is not difficult and can be done slowly. Some of the An villages or on hills, appr. a 45% “steep” walk-up but for not more than half an hour. The An people are known to be the kindest tribe, as there is no case up to nowadays where An member has ever been violent. It will take about 6 hours to visit the villages, including visits to the houses. Late afternoon comes back to Kyaing Tong. Overnight at Princess Hotel.
