Day 1: Hanoi – Van Long – Hoa Lu – Trang An.
Transfer 2 hours to Dich Long Bridge, Ninh Binh where we pick up our bicycle and commence cycling along the dyke of Van Long Nature Reserve. Ride past the beautiful countryside with vast rice paddies and karst limestone backdrop. On the way, visit Hoa Lu cave and leave your baggage in hotel. Take an easy ride passing through the beautiful countryside and Kenh Ga Hotspring to Hoa Lu, the first capital of Vietnam date back from 9th century. Visit the King Dinh & Le temples and climb some hundred steps to the top of a mountain for a great view over the “Halong Bay on the rice field”. Continue cycling for another 12 kilometre bike ride through the area, lime karsts towering above you as you ride along back roads and beautiful scenery… Following our bike ride, we’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant before visiting Trang An, a new addition to UNESCO’s list of heritage sites. Here, we’ll board row boats for a 3 to 3.5-hour journey through caves, passing local villages along the river system of the Red River Delta. The scenery comprises of lush green rice paddies during the rice growing seasons and the surrounding limestone karsts make for a stunning backdrop, presenting many photo opportunities for the keen photographers among the group. Transfer to hotel for overnight.
Day 2: Ninh Binh – Tam Coc – Bich Dong – Cuc Phuong.
After breakfast, cycle 7km to Tam Coc then, take a sampan cruise on a river through the rice paddies to the grottoes of the sacred Tam Coc Caves. Enormous limestone karsts jut out from the green rice fields giving rise to this place’s other name, ‘Halong on Land’. We will stop at Hang Mua (Dancing cave), enjoy climbing up over 500 steps to the summit. From the top of mountain, we can enjoy the dramatic panorama of Tem Coc rivers, canals and mountains. Then, continue on the cycling trip on scenic route to Cuc Phuong national park. On the way stop to visit Ninh Van stone carving village. Overnight in Cuc Phuong national park at hotel.
Day 3: Cuc Phuong – Mai Chau.
After breakfast, take a short shuttle to Vu Ban, then we enjoy a scenic back-road 35km cycling on gentle hilly road to Muong Khen. The ride along Cai River and past authentic villages of hill tribe Thai and Muong villages. Our cycle ends in Muong Khen, then hop in bus and transfer our weary legs to Mai Chau, where we will spend our next night.
Day 4: Mai Chau – Hanoi.
Following breakfast, enjoy our morning cycle to authentic villages as Tong Dau, Na Tang, Cha Long where rarely visited by tourists. The on a mix of good single track paths and undulating rough jeep trails. The views are stunning as the ride passes through many villages and across rice paddies. Spend time to walk around the villages and interact with friendly Thai ethic people. After the visit, get on bus and transfer to Hanoi. Cycling Trip Northern Vietnam 4 Days is completed.
