Overview

Chin State and Mt.Victoria Trekking Tour .Also known as Natma-taung National Park was established in 1994. The 279 square mile wide National Park is situated in Chin State and it is spread out to Mindat Township, Kanpetlet Township, and Matupi Township. There are different kinds of forest types such as Hill Evergreen forests, Moist Upper Mixed Deciduous forests, Pine forest and Hill Savannah. On the way to Mt. Victoria Peak, observe the natural forests trees, orchids, and especially “Rhododendron”. There are also 159 bird species including 5 indigenous, especially the unique bird (white browed nuthatch), which can be seen only in the Natmataung National Park.

BAGAN – KYUN CHAUNG – MINDET (L,D)Early morning transfer to the jetty and take a private boat to Kyun Chaung. Upon arrival drive-by landrover to Mindset (appr. 8 hrs drive). The countryside is dry and flat and there are many sand streams to cross. At Pauk Township stop for lunch at Shwe Aye Ka Yee Restaurant. After Pauk, the countryside is getting more and more green and hilly and before you reach the Chin Hills you can also see rice fields and vegetable cultivations. The Amay Ye Yin Nat shrine marks the beginning of the Chin State. Take a coffee break at Kyauk Htu village before the road goes steep up the Chin Hills to Mindet, a former British hill station of the southern Chine State. Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight at Mountain Oasis Resort.

As there is plenty of water, stop for lunch and have a rest next to the Chi stream. After lunch, the path crosses the Chi stream and goes from then on steep up. First through hot and cultivated fields, then through cool and pleasant pine forests until we reach the Aye Camp. On arrival take a break and visit the nearby Chin village. Shy and cautiously you will be invited to have a cup of rice wine, which will help both parties to warm up. Women were in colorful traditional costumes, the older ones have heavily tattooed faces and were smoking tobacco pipes, and some of the men still wearing pure golden earrings, inherited by their fathers. Family stories will be exchanged, questions answered, and children introduced. Packed with these memories come back to the Aye Camp for dinner and overnight.

Victoria peak (3055 meters). Visit the Zi Na Man Aung pagoda on the peak and enjoy the view over the surrounding chin mountain ranges. In the afternoon walk back the same way to the 8th-mile junction and drive by car to Kanpelet. The road will lead you down, through pine wood forests, with lots of birds and butterflies. The township is situated 1400 meters above sea level. Dinner and overnight at Mountain Oasis Resort.
