Embark on an enriching 3-Day Angkor Cycling Tour, a meticulously crafted adventure designed to provide a comprehensive and intimate exploration of Cambodia's most iconic region. This tour offers a unique blend of ancient historical grandeur, vibrant local culture, and serene rural landscapes, all experienced from the refreshing perspective of a bicycle. It’s an ideal choice for active travelers seeking a deeper connection with Siem Reap and the wonders of the Angkor complex, moving beyond the typical tourist paths.
Your journey begins in Siem Reap, the bustling gateway to the legendary Angkor Archaeological Park. Over these three days, you'll be equipped with comfortable bicycles and guided by a knowledgeable local expert along shaded trails and quieter pathways, allowing you to bypass main roads and truly immerse yourself in the ancient ambiance.
The core of your tour revolves around the extensive exploration of the Angkor Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. You'll dedicate significant time to the colossal Angkor Wat, cycling to its majestic causeway and exploring its intricate bas-reliefs, vast courtyards, and towering spires. The cycling allows you to discover less-visited corners and appreciate the sheer scale and spiritual significance of this masterpiece. You’ll also delve into the ancient walled city of Angkor Thom, encountering the enigmatic smiling faces of Bayon Temple, exploring the Terrace of the Elephants, and the Terrace of the Leper King. Another highlight is the ethereal Ta Prohm, famously known as the "Tomb Raider" temple, where giant tree roots dramatically intertwine with crumbling stone walls, creating a mystical and highly photogenic atmosphere. Beyond these main temples, you’ll discover hidden gems like Preah Khan, Neak Pean, and the intricate carvings of Banteay Srei, often referred to as the "Citadel of Women," known for its exquisite pink sandstone art.
Beyond the temples, your tour extends into the authentic Siem Reap countryside and local culture. You'll pedal away from the temple complex, venturing into peaceful rural areas, cycling through lush rice paddies, past traditional stilted homes, and into charming local villages. Here, you'll have invaluable opportunities to interact with friendly Cambodians, observe their daily routines, and gain insights into their livelihoods, such as rice farming or traditional craft making. A visit to Tonle Sap Lake or one of its unique floating villages is often included, offering a fascinating glimpse into a community that thrives entirely on the water, adapting to the lake's seasonal changes. This immersive experience highlights the resilience and warmth of the Cambodian people.
This 3-Day Angkor Cycling Tour is more than just a bike ride; it's an active, educational, and deeply rewarding journey that combines historical exploration with genuine cultural immersion, leaving you with lasting memories of Cambodia's beauty, history, and spirit.

After breakfast, departure from the hotel on the main road and cycling through Angkor pass check point. Start to cycling through the shady road with a little pumping because of the a few pot-holes. From there you will begin to see Kravan temple, Banteay Kdei, and stop at the famous Ta Phrom, embraced by the roots of enormous fig trees and gigantic creepers. Visit Ta Phrom (45 minutes-1 hour).
It was built in 12th century by the famous King Jayavarvan VII indicated to his mother. While clearing back the forest archaeologists decided to leave the vegetation of Ta Phrom in place to serve as a reminder of how the original discoverers found it and the other Angkor temples. Many of the trees have grown around and through the remains and soar high above the temples, overnight in Siem Reap.
Depart from the hotel, crossing the bridge at Old Market to cycle 15km toward Rolous Group. The first 2km, is on the tarmac road toward the bus station, then passing the rice field and the village. Rolous Group was the first capital of Angkor Empire during 800 A.D.
Visit the Pre-Angkorian temples including Preak Ko, Bakong and Lo Lei, afternoon, cycling to Tonle Sap Lake. Turn left at the crocodile’s farm crossing the bridge. Then cycle on small road along the river through villages, pagodas and schools, overnight in Siem Reap.
Depart from the hotel on the main road. Arrive at Angkor Wat and turn left to the west. Continue to cycle 2km before turn right to the rural road. The road is good for cycling as you can avoid the busy traffic but you can see rice field, village and pagoda.
Arrive in Banteay Srei before lunch, visit (45 minutes) Banteay Srei temple known as women citadel (built in 967 A.D dedicated to Brahma). While some of temples are impressive because of their sheer size, Banteay Srei stands alone in the quality of its construction and decoration. Its pink sandstone walls are decorated with what some consider the best carving of all, and still an excellent state of preservation, end services.
