After about 2 hours, you will reach the village of Khamu and enjoy a typical meal in the garden of a local family. Here, learn about the traditions and the animist culture practiced by many ethnic minorities in Laos. Next, you will be introduced about the production of "Lao Hai" rice wine. In the afternoon, go visiting a blacksmith and make your own knife, a wonderful keepsake and memory of this day. The rustic town of Nong Khiaw sits on the stunning Nam Ou River, which meanders between some of the most fantastic limestone mountains in northern Laos. It truly is a breathtaking part of the world here. After checking into the hotel, you are free to explore the area.Grab some lunch and afterwards, there are many walks to take and if you feel like a steep climb there's the Nong Khiaw Viewpoint, with fabulous views from the top. For something a little less strenuous, you can stroll out of town about 3 km and visit the Pathok Caves, which were used as hideouts during the 2nd Indochina War. Make sure you make it back to town before dark, or better to take a torch with you, which will come in handy in the caves.Enjoy dinner in a local restaurant in Nong Khiaw.Meals: Breakfast & Dinner.Accommodation: Hotel in Nong Khiaw.

Here you will enjoy a delicious picnic lunch, relax, explore the area and take a swim before returning to the river and heading further upstream to a weaving village called Sopjam. This is where you will stay tonight as they have set up a village homestay here with double and twin rooms and western toilets. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable, however, be prepared for cold showers. Your guide will prepare a picnic lunch before hopping back on your longboat and travelling back toward Nong Khiaw. If you still have enough energy, you can stop downriver and jump into kayaks and paddle the rest of the way to Nong Khiaw. Get some rest as you head back to Luang Prabang.Meals: Breakfast, Lunch.Accommodation: Hotel in Luang Prabang.
Day 9: - Explore Luang Prabang.
Wandering the old city of Luang Prabang is like time-traveling to the so-called Indochine era in the late 19th century, when the French took control of the Buddhist center, made it their colonial capital, and built an imposing palace to receive international dignitaries. Along with their bayonets, the Europeans brought baguettes, which had a profound and lasting impact on the local cuisine and culture.Following breakfast at the hotel, take a sightseeing tour of Luang Prabang by bicycle. This is a perfect pace to see the jewels of the city. You will spend time to explore this UNESCO World Heritage City, fittingly called one of the last Shangri-Las of Southeast Asia. Begin by visiting the oldest temple in Luang Prabang, Wat Visoun, the site of an impressive stupa, That Makmo, stylistically more Srilankalese than Lao. Nearby is Wat Aham, which is one of the city’s major tutelary shrines dedicated to revered spirits Deveta Luang and Pu Gneu Ya Gneu. The National Museum (former King's Palace) is your next stop. Displaying a collection of personal artefacts of the Royal Family, such as photos, musical equipment and gifts received from foreign countries, each object has a story to tell. Head to Wat Xieng Thong, considered the most beautiful temple in Laos.Lunch is taken at Khaiphaen Restaurant, a vocational training school serving traditional Laotian cuisine. In the late afternoon, transfer to participate in a Baci Ceremony. Baci meaning "calling of the soul" is an important ceremony practiced in Lao and Thai culture. It is a ritual used to celebrate important and special events, like births and marriages, novice monks entering monkhood, departing, returning and beginning a New Year. The ritual of the Baci involves tying strings around a person's wrist to preserve good luck, and has become a national custom. When the Baci ceremony is complete, enjoy a cocktail at Kabane.Meals: Breakfast, Lunch.Accommodation: Hotel in Luang Prabang.
Day 10: - Luang Prabang Cooking Class.

The class is held in a pagoda, surrounded by lush green plants, a pond and stunning surrounds. You will learn the art of making Lao sticky rice and several dishes, before feasting on them for lunch. Return to town mid-afternoon where you are free for the rest of the day.Meals: Breakfast, Lunch.Accommodation: Hotel in Luang Prabang.
Day 11: - Luang Prabang – Kuang Si Waterfall.
