The best way to discover Ninh Binh’s sights is to take a bike ride since the land is completely flat, the limestone mountains are spectacular. Tam Coc’s most popular cycling route is a 2 hour bike ride around Tam Coc to discover Thai Vy temple and Bich Dong pagoda. Other cycling routes link between Van Long and Tam Coc (45km), Tam Coc and Cuc Phuong national park (40km), Tam Coc – Hoa Lu (7km) and Tam Coc – Kenh Ga (30km).

If you would like to discover Tam Coc at your own, you just need to hire a single speed bike at any hotel in Tam Coc. Bike rental is popular in Tam Coc (push-bike). In some hotels they even have bikes there free. The roads are easy and just enjoy the beauty of Ninh Binh rice farms on your own. Remember to stop at some caves and pagodas on the road for more exploration. Some lotus farms can be around rice farms too.
