Standard 8 Days North-east Motorcycling: GTT801

Today is the first day of this standard 8 days North-east motorcycling. Before starting to ride, we will have a short briefing to let you know about the rules. In addition, the guide will show you how to understand him by his body language. We start around 9.30am after the rush hours.
In fact, today’s ride is a quite a long ride but easy (so early departure is better) from Hanoi to Na Khan 180 km. In general, the road is sealed all the way until Bac Kan. However, the last part from Bac Kan to Na Khan is wild and little bumpy.

Duration: 8 - 12 days
Country: Vietnam

Overview
VIETNAM MOTORBIKE TOURS ITINERARIES
On this page, you will find Vietnam motorbike tours itineraries by Golden Trail Travel that customers completed. The name is the tour code and if you want to do the same itinerary please include this in your request. Currently, some are old or outdated but most are still very good. The names of places may change and actual distance (in km) can be shorter or longer due to new roads. The guide will be the boss of a tour and he will discuss with you which road to take, based on road and weather conditions at the time.
Most of these motorbike tours were designed for both experienced and non-experienced riders. The best motorbikes for these trips are dirt bikes or off-road motorcycles from 125cc to 250cc. We suggest having people with similar riding skills in each group so nobody holds the other riders back.
NORTH-EAST VIETNAM LOOP
Northeast Vietnam used to be an important area during the war (with the French army). Currently, it’s changing fast and becomes a beautiful region, full of legends, colourful hill tribe groups, and also major trade points with China. In reality, the road is small, windy, and snakes in the mountains. No matter which end of the trip you start from. First is on flat easy road or highway, then head up a mountain range and ride the mountain roads a few days before you find the flat road back to Hanoi again.
Fully Guided (All-Inclusive) Vietnam Motorbike Tours
Forget about negotiating things on the road and dealing with travel scams. Just ride, take in the scenery, meet local people, relax, and leave everything to us. After all, this is a journey, not just an adventure.
Below are the cost details of a typical fully guided trip, based on the different number of riders in your group and the bikes you ride. You start and end in Hanoi in a round loop.

Day 1: Hanoi – Na Khan. ~220 km, ~6 h.

Day 2: Na Khan – Ba Be. ~50 km, ~2 h.
In fact, you only have a short ride from Na Khan to Ba Be on a bumpy road. Then have lunch at our captain’s house (Mr. Sao). Easy boating on the lake and river. Go to market (if it is the day you arrive). Stop at a waterfall, beautiful swim etc. Down the waterfall, we could visit the village and a small school (only a few pupils during the summer). Finally, we propose to stay in the stilt house of our captain.

Day 3: Ba Be – Cao Bang. ~170 km, ~8 h.
In fact, today you have a beautiful ride up to Cao Bang province. There are a few passes from where you can dominate the area. The road is easy but there are many curves. While riding we can stop a lot. Altogether, with stops for drinks and food, it should be an 8-hour journey. Stay in a hotel in Cao Bang.

Day 4: Cao Bang – Ban Gioc Waterfalls – Quang Uyen. ~130 km, ~2 h.
Having obtained permission from the border police we make our way through spectacular scenery to Vietnam’s most impressive waterfalls. Weather permitting we can swim right up to where the 50 m high falls hit the river.
Then ride 1 more hour back to the beautiful village of Quang Hoa, in the middle of a mountain cirque. This is the territory of Nung An people. Finally, spend the night at our friend’s house.

Day 5: Quang Hoa – Lang Son. ~150 km, ~5 h.
Ride from Quang Hoa to Lang Son on the scenic Highway 4. We will have time to discover this city, which has become a big trading post between China and Vietnam. In addition, you can shop for cheap Chinese electronic products at Dong Kinh or Tam Thanh market.
Overnight in a hotel.

Day 6: Lang Son – Bai Chay. ~180 km, ~7 h.
In reality, we have a long drive mainly on a secondary road, passing many coal mines along the road. We hope you are not covered in dark coal dust when we arrive in Halong City (the new name of Bai Chay).

Day 7: Halong Bay cruising. Sleep on the boat.

Transfer by tender from boat to Surprising Cave. Enjoy kayaking and swimming, or relaxing on the boat. Dinner served with Vietnamese food. Evening activities – choose from optional evening activities: enjoy movies, sing karaoke or join squid fishing with our crew (in case the weather is good).
2. Book a private boat and cruise in Halong Bay. Sleep on the boat. However, this option costs extra and we will let you know the cost if you want this upgrade.

Day 8: Halong – Hanoi. ~160 km, ~5 h. End of Standard 8 Days North-east Motorcycling.
Two options with the cruise:
1. Transfer by tender from boat to Titov island, swimming or just relaxing. Then continue the cruise and refresh onboard and come back to Bai Chay. Check-out cabins and pay for your drinks. Lunch at Thang Long restaurant in Halong city (or on the boat).
2. Continue cruising in Halong Bay. Lunch on boat and return at noon. In fact, this option costs extra and we will let you know the cost if you want this upgrade.
Pick up the bike(s) and ride back to Hanoi on Highway 18 and then 1B
We try to arrive in Hanoi before 5pm to avoid rush hours. Otherwise, you should be good with city traffic from the experience you got over the last days.
