Sekong

Sekong is located in southern Laos. The province of Sekong is rugged, wild but scenic, and transportation is quite difficult, especially during the rainy season. The province of Sekong is one of the least explored provinces in Laos because of the rugged landscape and the mountainous terrain that rises to the Dacheung Plateau. With 14 distinct ethnic groups belonging to the Mon-Khmer language family, this sparsely populated province is probably the most ethnically diverse in southern Laos. The Katu and Talieng are the largest ethnic groups in the province and are known for their unique religious practices that combine animism and ancestor worship. Sekong is well known for its unique textile patterns, which consist of multicolored line patterns created from a hip loom. Sekong offers visitors many sites to visit such as Tad Hia Waterfalls, Tad Faek and Tad Se Noi or the Xe Xap National Protected Area.
