Day 1: Arrival/transfer to Sa Pa
At the airport in Hanoi, the expedition starts. We'll take the New Express to Sa Pa, which is a seven-hour travel. Spend the night in a hotel
Day s 2 & 3: Two nights camping
We're going to camp for two nights at the top of the mountain using the new cable car. Today, we begin our travels by birdwatching our way to base camp at Tram Ton (2,100m/6900 feet asl), which is located at 3,142m (10300 feet asl) on the mountain peak. We will spend three full days birding this seldom-visited region of the country, looking for a variety of intriguing birds, including the two mega-specialities, White-throated and Pale-throated Wren-Babbler. Numerous Himalayan bird species will also be visible to us, such as the Red-tailed Minlas, Hill Partridge, Crimson-breasted Woodpecker, White-tailed Nuthatch, and Bar-throated (Chestnut-tailed) Minlas. Black-faced, Scaly, Red-winged, Silver-eared, White-browed Laughingthrushes, Rufous-bellied Niltava, Fulvettas, Golden Parrotbill, Blue-winged Siva, Red-billed Leiothrix, White-browed and Golden-breasted Fulvettas, Stripe-throated Yuhina, Sickle-billed Scimitar Babbler, Scaly-breasted Wren Babbler, White-browed Bush Robins, White Browed Shortwing, Green-tailed and Black-throated Sunbirds.
Day 4: Down the mountain
We bird at Silver Waterfall (Thac Bac) after doing some last-minute mountain birding, where we'll look for the White-capped Water Redstart and Little Forktail.We'll travel back to Sa Pa and spend the night in a hotel.
Day 5: Birding Ham Romg garden - Transfer to Ha Noi
This morning, we will go birdwatching at the Ham Rong orchid garden. Our goal is to spot a variety of common birds, including the Hill Prinia, Brown-breasted Bulbul, Black-headed Greenfinch, and numerous winter Phylloscopus warblers. Our tour comes to a conclusion at the Ha Noi airport after an afternoon drive there.
