Your unforgettable expedition begins by leaving the urban sprawl of Hanoi behind, heading west towards the tranquil beauty of Mai Chau. Here, you'll be warmly welcomed by the White Thai people, experiencing their unique culture firsthand through an authentic overnight stay in a traditional stilt house and savoring delicious local cuisine. The ride then continues across the vast and verdant Moc Chau Plateau, celebrated for its endless tea plantations and refreshing climate, before the thrilling roads lead you to Son La and the historically resonant Dien Bien Phu. This segment offers a powerful educational experience as you explore the pivotal battlefields and museums that shaped Vietnam's destiny, providing profound insights into the nation's remarkable struggle for independence and resilience. You'll walk through history, understanding the courage and spirit of the Vietnamese people who fought bravely for their freedom.

As you venture deeper into the highlands, this shorter yet comprehensive loop takes you through more stunning mountain passes and traditional villages, ensuring continuous visual feasts before culminating in your ride back to Hanoi, filled with cherished memories of an extraordinary Northwest Vietnam motorbike tour. While shorter, this 6-day adventure is perfectly crafted for avid riders seeking authentic cultural encounters, thrilling off-road experiences, and unparalleled photographic opportunities amidst some of Asia's most spectacular natural wonders. Day 1: Lao Cai – Bac Ha. ~80 km, ~3 h.
The train arrives in Lao Cai at 8 am with motorbikes and the guide. Get the bike off the train and fill up gasoline. Quiet stage! 70 km of an easy road up to Bac Ha. Check-in the hotel in Bac Ha. Ride to Can Cau market after lunch. This is one of Vietnam’s most fascinating open-air markets, 20 km north of Bac Ha. In reality, Can Cau market attracts a large number of Chinese traders. The market runs only on Saturday and getting there is a rough ride. The road leading to Can Cau is pitiless; without a strong 2-wheeled dirt bike; do not even think about it. Sleep in Bac Ha.Golden Trail Travel Motorbike Adventures - Amazing short loop of Northwest 6 days off road riding near Xin Man.
Day 2: Bac Ha – Xin Man. ~50 km, ~3 h.
In the morning, we go to Ba Ha weekend market. This lively and crowded concrete bazaar is the main market in Bac Ha proper. It is dominated by the Flower H’mong and mainly operates on Sunday. If time is bad or was bad, the stage becomes the hardest journey. The roads are under construction since already a long time and the riding becomes challenging. The good side is that we ride very slowly and benefit fully from the imposing site between China and Vietnam. Mysterious meetings of the end of the world and envision, like a volatile perfume. Reward: A superb hotel of nowhere awaits us in Xin Man. Well deserved rest.
Day 3: Xin Man – Luc Yên. ~200 km, ~8 h.
This is a long portion of riding but on easy roads. The landscapes are very varied, always skirting the border to finish in triumph in the valley of the palm trees of Luc Yen, at the Dao and Tay. Stay in a guesthouse, one is smelled there as at home. If the invaluable stones interest you, this is a chance to buy them at the busy market of the stones.
Day 4: Luc Yen – Vu Linh. ~70 km, ~2 h.
Ride to Vu Linh in about 2 hours around the lake on a small road lined with palm trees and scenic mountain views. Vu Linh’s Dao village is where we spend the night in the traditional house on stilts. Superb work of wood. The houses are superb. In addition, the exceptional greeting does not leave anybody “indemne”.Golden Trail Travel Motorbike Adventures - Amazing short loop of Northwest 6 days off road riding via Luc Yen.
Day 5: Vu Linh – Song Thao. ~70 km, ~2 h.
Return to the valley of artisans. We return homage to them while passing in order to visit their plantations of the tree with lacquer. We call them artisans due to the fact that they bleed the lacquer tree to obtain the precious substance.
Day 6: Song Thao – Hanoi. ~150 km, ~5 h
. End of Amazing Short Loop Of Northwest 6 Days.We ride back via Son Tay with a possibility of passing by the site of Ba Vi or Ao Vua or lake Dong Mo.We arrive in Hanoi around 3 to 4pm, before rush hours.
