Day 01: Vientiane – Naphaeng – Phou Khao Khouay – Long Xan Valley (240 km)
7:30 AM pick up from your hotel and we start riding along road No. 10 for about 65 km and then turn right at Ban Naphaeng going up to Phou Khao Khouay National Protected Area. Upon reaching the top of the first mountain, we ride on a small, rocky road around the Ang nam mang reservoir. From here you will have beautiful views of the lake surrounded by pine tree forest. Lunch will be served at a Hmong village. In the afternoon we ride down south on road No. 13 for a short distance and then turn left, going all along the road following the Nam Ngum River up to Ban Naxay to hit again road No. 13. Near Ban Thabok we turn left, traverse Phou Khao Khouay NPA up to Ban Long Xan in the north of the park where we spend the night. Accommodation: Choa guesthouse (shearing room)

Day 02: Longxan – Xaysomboun – Thaphom (140 km)
Today we are riding on the small but paved road with lots of curves. We arrive at Xaysomeboun before lunch in a local restaurant in the town. We then continue riding a dirt road down to Tha Phom. We need to cross the Nam Nhiap river on a small string bridge and will arrive in Tha Phom before sunset. Accommodation: Choa guesthouse (shearing room)

Day 03: Tha Phom – Thasi – Vieng Thong (180 km)
After breakfast, we take bikes to long-tail boat crossing Nam San river and then pass Thasi and go a bit later deep into the Nam Ka Ding National Protected Area. As an old logging road, the condition of the road may be muddy and many trees block the trail. Many streams have to be crossed. Picnic lunch on the way. After lunch we head towards Vieng Thong, where we will be before sunset and stay overnight. Accommodation: local guesthouse (shearing rooms)

Day 04: Vieng Thong – Ban Na Hin – Khonglor (180 km)
We will ride for about 75 km on a dirt road surrounded by beautiful landscape with lime stone and jungle toward road No. 8 and then turn right to Ban Na Hin where our lunch will be served in a local restaurant.We will take a boat through the huge Konglor cave for 7, 5 km. Inside the cave you will see many stalagmites and stalactites. For a welcome refreshment you can swim in the blue lagoon at the mouth of the cave. Accommodation: Sala konglor guesthouse (shearing rooms)

Day 05: Khonglor – Lak Xao – Nakai – Bualapha (230 km)
Today our destination is the far away Bualapha district. We begin the ride on a paved road but one with the most curves in Laos before reaching Lak Xao. From here on the road is still under construction and bad during rainy season. Our lunch will be served at local restaurant in Ban Nakai. After lunch we continue our trip on the paved road No.12 for about 65 km and then continue on an unpaved road for another 45 km to Bualapha, a small village just 10 km from the Vietnamese border. The place is well known because of the Mu Gia pass, the so-called “Death Gate” during the Second Indochina War. It is part of the “Ho Chi Minh Trail” where Viet Cong transported food, weapons, and other supply to the South of Vietnam. Mu Gia is now one of the main exit points from Laos to Vietnam. Day 06: Bualapha – Sepon – Ban Dong – Ta Oi (130 km)
Today our ride will continue on the dirt road. Few streams can be crossed over bamboo bridges during dry season. We pass to Ban Vialbury and then keep riding for another 45 Km to Sepon, where we will have lunch. In the afternoon we head towards the Lao-Vietnamese border and then turn left at Ban Dong village down to Ta Oi. It’s a hilly and rocky terrain with very few villages along the road. We arrive at Ta Oi before sunset. Accommodation: local guesthouse (shearing rooms)

Day 07 Ta Oi – Salavan – Paksong – Sekong – Attaupeu (292 km)
An early departure is recommended! The tough ride of 82 km (first part) today is taking you through remote areas and forests were villagers still live with very little impact by modern civilization. River crossings have to be expected, especially in the wet season. It is hard to find a place to eat along the way. From Salavan the road is newly paved and good all the way via Sekong to Attapeu (210 km). We will pass Paksong, the coffee center of the Bolaven Plateau, where world-famous coffee varieties are grown on its fertile volcanic soil.

Day 08 Attapeu – Sanam Xai – Ban Kiet Ngnong – Wat Phou – Pakse (85 km)
Today we will experience many river crossings, especially in the Sanam Xai Distrct. We ride the most southern off-road area of Laos and come out at the Kingfisher Eco-lodge at Ban Kiet Ngong at the edge of the Xepian National Protected Area and important wetlands in Laos for lunch.
After lunch we ride to the relatively nearby ancient Khmer temple ruins of Wat Phou. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was once associated with the city of Shrestapura and its ruins predate those of the related Angkor Wat in Cambodia. For going to Wat Phou we have to cross the Mekong by ferry boat. In the afternoon we proceed to Pakse. Farewell dinner with your team . Accommodation: Sang Aloun hotel
