Description
Northern Vietnam Cycling Tour 6 Days is one of our very challenging bike tours we arrange for experienced cyclists. They will enjoy riding on dirt trails, paved, bumpy roads in the northern highlands of Vietnam.

Night 1: Hanoi – Lao Cai By Train
We take the night train from Hanoi to Lao Cai, leaving Hanoi train station at about 8-9pm, and arriving Lao Cai station at about 6am (+1).

Day 1: Lao Cai – Sapa.
The train arrives at Lao Cai station around 6:30 am. The road from Lao Cai to Sapa is narrow and steep, taking us from the elevation of 650 to 1,600 m above sea level. Sapa is now quite touristy. However, we propose a bike ride to Ta Van village where is dominated by Zay people. We pass Lao Chai village on the way and lunch could be in Lao Chai, Ta Van, or wherever we want. In Sapa, the humidity is high and it gets colder after midnight.

Day 2: Sapa – Coc Ly – Bac Ha.
Cycle down to Lao Cai and then to Pac Ngam to meet the boat that is waiting to take us to Coc Ly where you will meet H’mong, Dao and Phu La people. In fact, Coc Ly is wild, lost in the forest and could only be reached by horse, boat or bike. A boat is waiting to take us and our bikes on Chay River for over 1 hour (20 km). Meet local people and have lunch in Coc Ly before cycling to Bac Ha.

Day 3: Bac Ha – Luc Yen – Vu Linh.
We start the day’s activity biking from from Bac Ha to Luc Yen, follow a small track, then a boat is waiting for us to bring the bikes and us to Vu Linh, at homestay of the Dao. The welcome is exceptional and we hope you will not be too much tired. Alternatively, we could cycle from Luc Yen to Vu Linh via Yen The on a small road that runs alongside Thac ba lake. In fact, most of our customers picked up this option.

Day 4: Vu Linh – Chiem Hoa.
We cycle from Vu Linh to Chiem Hoa through Tuyen Quang. In general, the road is sealed all the way until Ham Yen. However, the last part from Ham Yen to Chiem Hoa is wild and little bumpy. We will be lodged in a Tay village, lost in the middle of the primitive forest.

Day 5: Chiem Hoa – Ba Be.
We follow a small road which goes along the Song Gam river for about 20km, then we turn right, keep cycling on small road until we make a stop for lunch. We find the main road again when we arrive in Cho Don is a small town of Bac Kan province. The national road #254 is not much busy with traffic but part of the road is under maintenance. Either we keep cycling till Pac Ngoi or get on the van for one hour transfer. Overnight at homestay.

Day 6: Ba Be – Hanoi.
Today is the last day of your Northern Vietnam Cycling Tour 6 Days. Take 30 mm walk to the boat pier for a 3 hour boat trip, cruising on the clear water of Ba Be Lake, the largest natural lake in the mountainous region of Indochina which is surrounded by high mountains covered by thick forest. Stop on the way to discover Puong grotto. Picked up again by your car and brought back to Hanoi. Northern Vietnam Cycling Tour 6 Days is completed.
