Description
Northern Vietnam Biking Trip 7 Days is a very hard bike tour we arrange in the northern Vietnam for experienced cyclists to explore Thac Ba Lake, Ha Giang, Ba Be national park. A mixture of road cycling, mountain biking offers the chance to discover the most spectacular landscape of Vietnam – Ha Giang.

Day 1: Hanoi – Mai Chau.
Today is the first day of this fantastic Northern Vietnam Biking Trip 7 Days. Before starting the adventure, we will have a short briefing to know about the tour as well as practical information about cycling in Vietnam. If you arrive Hanoi days in advance we recommend the briefing to be organized one day in advance at our garage. Once out of the Red River Delta, which brims with traditional farming activity, we pass through limestone monoliths and into foothills populated by Muong people. We head straight at the main range before breaching a high and beautiful forested pass, which descends into the hidden valley of Mai Chau. It is very fertile and rich in varied landscapes, medium mountains, forest, lake, rivers, and infinitude of small footpaths, which offer many possibilities of a bike ride. Overnight at homestay.

Day 2: Mai Chau – Thac Ba Lake.
Today’s ride is quite long which may spitted into 2 portions, so that tonight we can be either lodged in Phu Yen or Thac Ba Lake. The first bike ride begins from Mai Chau, runs on the secondary road through along the Black River that leads to Phu Yen. The second bike ride leads to Yen Binh where a boat is waiting to take us and our bicycles to cross Thac Ba Lake to a Dzao village. Overnight at local home.

Day 3: Thac Ba Lake – Ha Giang City.
Say goodbye to our hosts, we cycle along the lake following the small track through palm tree forest and rice field where see people harvesting rice. Good road and beautiful scenery! The afternoon ride is on the busy road Hanoi – Ha Giang, you might like getting on the van for 3 hour transfer to Ha Giang city. Overnight at hotel.

Day 4: Ha Giang – Meo Vac.
This is probably one of the very best cycling days of the fantastic Northern Vietnam Biking Trip 7 Days. It is hardest part of the trip since there are several steep mountain passes to climb such as the Heaven Gate in Quan Ba, Yen Minh pass, and another in Sung La. But you won’t believe your eyes how beautiful the region is. In fact, cycling through Dong Van karst Geo-Park is possibly the best part.

Day 5: Meo Vac – Bac Me.
After a very long and rewarding day yesterday, we take our time to relax and go to the market (Meo Vac market is open only on Sunday morning). Then a short cycle to Bac Me on the newly built road that was not shown on many travel maps. Yeah, it’s a newly sealed road now.

Day 6: Bac Me – Ba Be National Park.
In general, this is quite a hard ride (early departure is better) from Bac Me to Ba Be. Ba Be is a nice stop with rich Tay culture. However, if you want a shorter cycle back to Hanoi the next day, it is all the time possible to stop 50 km after Ba Be. The place is Na Khan, a village of Tay people lost in the forest.

Day 7: Ba Be Lake – Hanoi.
This morning we take a boat trip to discover Ba Be Lake and the Puong cave. The cruise continues to Cam Ha Village where you can observe the peaceful life of the Tay people before getting back on the boat that takes you upstream along the Nang River. The river has slowly eroded the karst, eventually breaking through to the other side and leaving behind an astonishing tunnel full of fascinating rock formations. Picked up by your van at the gate of the park, then transferred to a local restaurant for lunch. Travel back to Hanoi. Northern Vietnam Biking Trip 7 Days is completed.
