Day 1: Hanoi – Mai Chau.
Today is the first day of this 5 Days Big North Vietnam Bike Loop. Before starting to cycle, we will have a short briefing to let you know about the tour as well as practical information about cycling in Vietnam. If you arrive Hanoi days in advance we recommend the briefing to be organized one day in advance at our garage. Once out of the Red River Delta, which brims with traditional farming activity, we pass through limestone monoliths and into foothills populated by Muong people. We head straight at the main range before breaching a high and beautiful forested pass, which descends into the hidden valley of Mai Chau where we spend the night with friends in a traditional Thai stilt house.

Day 2, 3: Mai Chau – Thac Ba Lake.
The first bike ride begins from Mai Chau, runs on the secondary road through Red River Delta along the river that leads to Phu Yen. The second bike ride leads to Yen Binh where a boat is waiting to take us and our bicycles to cross Thac Ba Lake to a Dzao village. Overnight at local home.

Day 4, 5: Thac Ba Lake – Ha Giang.
Say goodbye to our hosts, we cycle along the lake following the small track through palm tree forest and rice field where see people harvesting rice. Good road and beautiful scenery, we spend the first night in a small town of Tuyen Quang, and the next night in Ha Giang city.

Day 6, 7: Ha Giang – Ba Be National Park.
There are two ways getting to Ba Be national park from Ha Giang – the hard and long journey with several tough climbs leading through Yen Minh, Quan Ba, Dong Van, Bao Lac – and the short, less challenging one passing through Bac Me. Ba Be is a nice stop with rich Tay culture.

Day 8: Ba Be National Park – Hanoi.
This morning we take a boat trip to discover Ba Be lake and the Puong cave. The cruise continues to Cam Ha Village where you can observe the peaceful life of the Tay people before getting back on the boat that takes you upstream along the Nang River. The river has slowly eroded the karst, eventually breaking through to the other side and leaving behind an astonishing tunnel full of fascinating rock formations. Picked up by your van at the gate of the park, then transferred to a local restaurant for lunch. Travel back to Hanoi. North Vietnam by Bike 8 Days is completed.
